Treat Yourself to a Little Love

Valentine’s Day weekend is well underway with hearts all over the world, and all of that lovey dovey stuff. ❤️💕 🌎 While I would LOVE to be boo’d up with somebody’s son, phone on “Do Not Disturb” the whole weekend while I’m enjoying my man, I am currently single single, but you know what…THAT’S OKAY!

Yes, being a couple and having a significant other to love on can be cute, but you know what else is…loving on yourself and treating yourself right.

There are really people out here who don’t know how to spend time with themselves or love themselves, and that doesn’t sit right in my spirit.

It is so important to get to know self FIRST. What do you enjoy doing? What makes you happy? What makes you upset? What do you consider to be a great day? Who are you??? If you answered “I’m not sure” to any of these questions…sweetie, it’s time to get your life!

Now by no means is this an easy process, especially for people like me who has anxiety and sometimes over thinks EVERYTHING. Solo dolo time can be a little daunting, but it just takes time, and you are so worth it!

There was a time in my life where I was just NOT FEELING MYSELF. Everything I did and was, was a problem, and I hated that for me, but there was a scripture that I read literally all of the time, and CHIIILE.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” (Psalms 139:14, New International Version)

It’s just something about this scripture that just gives me so much confidence! Like my God is an AMAZING creator, so why should I think that me, another one of HIS creations, is not as wonderful as HE is???

Not saying that was the be all, cure all for my self doubt, because it still occurs, but BABY it did what it needed to do. Now I LOVE my “me time.” That is honestly a majority of my time. I take solo trips, in-state and out-of-state. I love weekends where I can cozy up on my couch, watch a good series, or movie, and eat good food. I love a little self reflection time, journaling down my thoughts, reading a devotional. ALL OF THAT! It’s not always cake and bottles of wine though, it’s also me recognizing that I mess up. I mean I’m human, but I know that it’s not the end of the world. Can you say PEACE??

Whatever you have planned for this weekend, or even if you don’t, make sure you spend at least a few moments loving on yourself. You will definitely feel good that you did. Soon those few moments will turn into hours, a day, and even longer. Next thing you know, you’re going to love yourself so much that you’re not going to want just anybody interrupting your vibe. You will be more intentional about the people you allow to enter in your space, but that’s a topic for another time.

Self love starts today, but it should continue forever! Lots of love to everyone on THIS day, and every day afterwards. ♥️♥️♥️
