2020 has FINALLY come to an end, and what a year it has been! This year has been full of loss, heartache, and plenty of ups and downs for a lot of people. During this year, people also learned some things. For me, I learned the importance of family, and making great moments with the people you love.

Growing up, I loved watching family sitcoms like Family Matters or The Cosby Show, because I enjoyed seeing how the families interacted with one another. Yes, they had their issues, but the resolve was always so genuine and loving. I legit loved to see it!
I was totally invested in seeing how every situation played out, and how the characters grew together, but while I was invested in the t.v. families, I wasn’t on the same page with my own. I’ve always been someone who kept to myself. I’m very independent and I honestly don’t like to be bothered a lot of times. (I’m trying to work on that.) However, if this year has taught me anything, it’s that family truly matters.
Even in this time of social distancing, I felt like I grew closer to my family, and I have really cherished all of the moments that we have had. It has been in those moments that have made all of the difference. I love quality time, so it was simple stuff like going places/running errands together, spending time with each other on holidays, and all of the “small stuff” that could normally be taken for granted.
Now as I talk about family, I am speaking on my immediate family: my parentals and brother, but even outside of immediate family, I had beautiful moments with other family members that really made my heart smile. And even outside of family, moments made with friends (some of whom are basically considered my family) were precious to me, also.
As I prepare for this New Year, I want to continue to make moments with people I love and people who love me. I want to surround myself with people who are encouraging, real, and supportive, and of course give that same energy. (Ain’t no one-sided nothing over here.) Everyday is not promised, so it’s important to make moments with people who matter the most before it’s too late. ❤️❤️
