I’m 27-years-old, but sometimes I feel like a middle-aged divorcee without the actual pleasure of having been married, as I sit home on weekends, curled up on my couch, watching rom-coms and/or documentaries. My social life is anything BUT social. This mandatory social distancing that I have been doing for the last week because of the Rona has been a breeze for me because this is literally my regular. sadly.
I mean…I’m still young! I SHOULD BE OUT IN THESE STREETS! responsibly.
Last week, I finally decided to replace my onesie for a cute going out outfit, and head out in the streets with my Bestie. We went to a quaint little bar/restaurant that I had heard about. Being the elder that I am, I wanted to get there before 8 pm. (I’m glad we did because it started to get a little packed in there and it wasn’t a lot of seating. PLUS, I wasn’t trying to be out all night. I had to work the next morning. unfortunately.)
My outing was great, though I wish I could’ve drank more, but I was trying to be responsible. BLAH. BLAH. BLAH.
Despite the nice time I had, one thing was apparently clear: I NEED TO GET OUT MORE. As soon as more people started coming in, I basically clutched my invisible pearls and looked around at every person that walked through the doors like I was an old, conservative woman dropped off in the middle of any MLK Boulevard. Unlike Beyonce, I was not good (The Carters “Black Effect” reference).
Some astrologists may say that it’s just the Taurus in me appearing, which may be true, but still. I need some spice: cayenne pepper, paprika, some razzle dazzle! I don’t know how people do it. socialize. In college I talked to EVERY. BODY. I need to get back to that me. within reason. I guess back OUT IN THESE STREETS I GO!
If you’re reading this, let me know how you socialize! I want to learn from YOU!
Hanging out with my circle of girlfriends, dates and even alone outings! The best advice I could give about socializing is put a date on the calendar and stick to it no matter what!

First of all, thank you for being the first person to comment! I am touched! I am definitely going to try to implement some of these things. I actually started last week with an outing, but this week RONA is doing her thing, so that’s on hold for now.
